After helping to assess the incredible poetry entries for The Yellow Book 5th Edition, we are delighted that poet, performer, teacher and editor Adam Horovitz penned a poem inspired by the project and it’s theme of gratitude. The Certitude of Gratitude will be used to inspire creativity in upcoming projects. Refuge are currently working on a new song inspired by these words for the upcoming projects and presentations. This will be available to hear November 2024.

Thanks Adam!

The Certitude of Gratitude

by Adam Horovitz

I think therefore I thank.

I put honour in the bank.

I dream a dream of praise and grace,

of being gentle, cool and frank.

I try to play life straight,

to not let anger’s weight

crush all my love and kindness.

Joy must not stagnate.

To clear my mind of spam

I need no battering ram,

just the certitude of gratitude.

I thank, therefore I am.
