Early February I lost my best friend, my dog of 14years, Ghost. Shortly after I lost my Great Grandad whom I hold very close to my heart. Throughout all the pain and anger Zoe never left me in the dark. Zoe is more than just my girlfriend she is my best friend, someone I can lean on in good and bad times.

What got me Through

| 0

I feel the things that got me through lockdown were zoom quizzes with friends and family, jigsaws and games with my mum and bike riding with my dad. I also went for walks in the fresh air with my dog, this was a comfort when everyone was at work.

Lola

Throughout my lockdown I was full of frustration and the one thing that made my lockdown was my dog. She is named Lola, but her nickname is Lola Bear as she is quite fluffy. Whenever I was feeling stressed, she was always there to make me feel better. She never fails to make me smile.

Nature was the only part that showed normality when in a pandemic.

Fishing

| 0

Out walking I saw a boy about to start fishing so I captured him a few minutes beforehand. I like this image because there’s not only a story behind it but it also looks like the building that’s being built and the bridge are overpowering the young boy giving the image a sense of eeriness.

Stars

I remember this moment because I was not able to sleep. I wanted to see the stars as have always found them a comfort when feeling down or lonely. I find watching the stars feels like a magical moment. Nothing happens, but at that moment when I realized I could see them, I felt peaceful and relieved.

The Portal

Gaming has helped me to tackle problems and obstacles in my life and given me an escape from my problems, it is a place where I feel most happy. Through games I feel like a different version of myself and I enter this “portal” into a different dimension.

Start Your Climb

When the world is upside down, it can be hard to stay upright. Find your climb and start from the bottom, even a tiny step brings you closer to the top. Your mind is stronger than the climb itself, and you will make it to the summit.

I loved how secure these deer felt, confident to let me walk up to them without startling or showing fear of humanity. Showing that as long as we are calm and soft, we can get along with nature far closer than we realise.

Time

I took this image to represent the time I spent alone during lockdown. I feel that the time which I spent alone helped me to appreciate the little things which I hadn’t before for example I had taken my house for granted, I didn’t think anything of it but during lockdown I have realised how fortunate I am to have a bed to have food in the fridge and to even have a loving family around.

Walks

The main positive distraction during lockdown for me was going on socially distanced walks with my close family and friends. I found that going on walks regularly helped clear my mind during this time.

Summer Walks

The daily walks really made me feel better during lockdown, we were really lucky with the weather which made the walks even better. It was a great form of exercise and got me out the house. This picture shows one of the posts in a field near my house. This trail was one of the many walks I went on through lockdown.

Divine Nature

During the lockdown, something that helped me through was the hopefulness for the planet. Regrowth and healing surrounded us all and brought a positive light to the negative.

Isolation

| 0

I spent lockdown in Spain. Only leaving our house to go to the supermarket or to walk our dog. I felt trapped and started observing the world from my balcony. I noticed a husky dog who would stare across at me. The thing that got me through was waking up every day, and knowing that the dog was going to be there.
