Barley Field

Picture of a Barley field near to where I live on a gorgeous spring day

Sunset on scooters!

Picture from early lockdown. The sun was very large but bright when setting and gave a lovely orange glow

Rainbow and Me

This is me standing under a rainbow. Rainbow’s are my favourite thing.

The calm of the river

| 0

A beautiful photograph I took of our local river. The walk through the woods to get here is secluded and feels magical. Good for the soul.

Through the woods

Our daily lockdown walk takes us through the woods. The smell of wild garlic and being in nature nourishes the soul.

De Montfort Square 11th May 2020

| 0

There are many benefits to living in Lestah. The slow speed of life enforced by the lockdown has allowed me to appreciate these so much more. Here is the (natural) wildlife of De Montfort Square on a beautiful late spring morning.

Underneath the spreading chestnut tree, Museum Square.

| 0

Museum Square has been deserted and very quiet for the most part during the lockdown. The chestnut trees there are very beautiful all year round. I have been taking photographs of the central tree everyday during the lockdown trying to “capture” the growth, the changing light and the sky. On this occasion though, I was coming back from a (very) early morning cycle ride to Aylestone meadows to see the egrets and the herons. There was in fact a young lady behind the tree trunk!!!

Sunlit study

Sunlight, flowers from the garden, reds & blues, all brightening up an indoor life of sitting, reading, writing and thinking. Morning in front of this window, planning for a new day and simply learning to BE. It all came together in a perfect picture.

Under the sea

| 0

An old canvas provided a wonderful excuse to try out all my beautiful blue acrylic paints. As the old picture was covered the sea got deeper! I was delighted to find orange paper in my collage bag to perfectly complement the blues and cover the marks with a busy highway of fish in the deep and a shoal of little ones rising to the surface. Collage is great fun. It makes me smile every time I look at it 🙂

Escape to Abbey Park

| 0

Cycling by the river and canal has been a joy during lockdown and nature has been revelling in the undisturbed quiet and beautiful Spring as much as we have. This idyllic view across the River Soar with it’s reflected waterlilies, the many greens of the trees and the variety of birds captures those meditative moments of peace passing through the park.

Fantasy of flowers

| 0

Inspired by the picture on a greetings card, I wanted to do my own version of colourful abstract flowers in a blue vase. I played with household emulsion match-pots before adding acrylics, oils and oil pastels. Four days of lockdown well spent and my own ‘Van Gogh’ to show for it!

Spring will return and flowers will grow in place of bloody leaves.

Exploring the infinite possibilities of New digital Media, Each colour, line, and shape combine to build a structure celebrating art harmoniously. Natural objects, faith and beliefs, mysterious depths and richness of shapes and textures, all come to life and vibrate in the colours and luminescence of the images. Through working with both camera and computer, I created images that seek to challenge/problematise traditional conceptions of photography and painting. Techniques and understandings from both fields – such as the layering of colour or the interplay of light – are used to produce images that capture the beauty of life.

Keep the love flowing. ‏Let’s all spread kindness during this challenging time Be kind to one another! Let this bring out the best in us

Protecting her babies

Since the lockdown begin we have been spending more time in the garden, I started of on day one photographing all of the wildlife which appeared in our garden, including this lovely bird. Right now I am sitting in the garden listening to her little babies chattering and singing whilst mommy and daddy bird bring them food.

Cheeky Squirrel

Spotted this cheeky guy eating a whole piece of toast on our fence at breakfast! and he didn’t want to share with us.

Capturing Natures Details

| 0

A selection of cotton scarves which I printed using natural leaves and dyes : ecoprinting. Love the whole process of collecting leaves outdoors, preparing them, the dyeing process and the sheer delight in unwrapping the bundles to see the natural detail captured on fabric.

Calming Dotting

| 0

I have recently taken up dotting- this tealight holder is the third item I have completed. As a perfectionist, embracing this deceptively simple craft has helped me calm my mind, focus on what’s in front of me and learn to relax and live with imperfect.

The Perfect End

| 0

After a day either at work, or even out birdwatching, there is nothing more peaceful than to see the sun setting gently over the water… I hope to capture the tranquility and calm with this shot across the Ouse Washes at Welney WWT This whole project is about “I feel better when…” and I can think of no more peaceful, uplifting and glorious feeling at there end of the day than to be able to sit and watch the sun setting over the water

Motherly Love

| 0

Whatever age you are, there is little more comforting than your mothers love. Seeing this little scenario by the side of the water brought it home to me that whatever you are… human, bird, animal… this holds true and I hope to show that love in the picture. This whole project is about “feeling good when… ” and these coot chicks are basking in their mothers love… no better feeling for a young’s

Bubble blower

Just added colour to a photo and added a bubble. I love to blow bubbles with wands to relax with.

A haze of forget-me-nots.

| 0

Forget – me – not, covid19 lockdown will never be forgotten, but it could change us for the better. Here’s hoping good things come from our eyes being opened to new things, senses, emotions and a whole lot me. Let’s leave this difficult time with a new way of thinking. Seeing sights like this proves that nature carries on regardless ?

Smile shadow with buttercups.

This is how I feel when going for my allocated exercise to our local park ‘Pishiobury Park’. Happy with buttercups. We must all Try and look for the best in life how ever hard it is. Back home is tough, but when the sun is shining how can you not smile!
